Morton Games is delighted to confirm the entry of the winner of the 2023 Morton Games 800 John Fitzsimons, after a frustrating time with injury, to Friday the 11th’s World Athletics Continental Tour Meet at Morton Stadium Dublin. The two time National 800 champion will line up for the DCU 800. Also confirmed is Cian McPhillips last year’s national indoor 800 champion, the 2021 European U/20 1500 champion was in excellent form in the indoor season, clocking a 1.45.33 PB in Boston and then making the semifinals at the European indoors. Since returning from injury he finished 3rd in the 800 at last weekend’s European team Championships.

The 2025 national indoor champion Kevin McGrath and Louis O’Loughlin complete the Irish line up..

The overseas opposition will come from most likely Britain’s Tom Randolph, the 2021 European U/23 800 bronze medallist, who has a 1.44.88 PB and fellow Britains Tiarnan Crorken who has a 1.44.98 PB and Piers Copeland 5th in the 2021 European Indoor 1500. A strong challenge will also come from the 2025 Belgian indoor champion Timon Inghlbrecht and Dan Watcke (USA).

The DCU 800 has always provided fantastic racing at Morton Games and this year will be no exception. Undoubtedly one to look forward to.
