Palmer back looking for second shot win

New Zealander Nick Palmer will be back at Morton Stadium on 10 July looking to defend his Whiteford Geo Services shot put title on what will be his 4th appearance at Morton Games. Palmer has been in superb form this season having recently extended his PB to 20.68 and last weekend going even further to 21.19 (UNC).

He will face an Irish dual challenge from national champion and recordholder, Olympian Eric Favors who has a 20.93 PB and John Kelly PB 20.16.

The favourite undoubtedly is Sweden's Wictor Petersson, the 2025 European indoor silver medallist and 2026 world indoor 5th place finisher, has a PB of 21.49.

Back for a secnd year is Poland's Symon Mazur, PB 20.18 and USA brothers CJ Licata, PB 20.55 and Joe Licata, PB 20.09.

Other entries include Britain's Piers Cameron PB 19.44 ,Tadeas Prochazka (CZE) PB 19.73 and Philipp Thomas (GER), PB 19.08.

It promises to be another spectacular shot competition right in front of the main stand.
