Camryn Rogers the stand out in World Class Hammer field

The first ever Morton Games women's hammer competition, generously sponsored by Friends of Irish Throwers, has attracted an eye-catching field for the July 10 meet. The lead entry is the Olympic champion Camryn Rogers of Canada who will look to break the existing Stadium record of 73.21 . With a PB of an extraordinary 81.13 who would bet against Paris gold medallist and twice world champion.

Other top entries include Ireland's record holder and four-time national champion Nicola Tuthill with a PB of 72.48. Tuthill enjoyed a stellar 2025 when she brought silver medals home from both the World University Championships and the European U/23 Championships. Norway's Beatrice Llano is a top-class athlete and a 9 time national champion and was the 2016 U/20 world champion and 2017 European U/23 bronze medallist. She comes with a PB of 73.08.

Charlotte Payne (GBR) has a 72.51 PB, the 2023 European U/23 medallist is a 3 times British champion.

The 2021 European U/23 champion Samantha Borutta will also challenge. The 4 times German champion has a 72.14 PB.

Last year's European U/23 silver medallist Valentina Savva (CYP) with a 70.22 PB will also be one to be reckoned with. In 2023 she won the European U/20 title to add for European U/18 title that she won the previous year.

 Poland’s Aleksandra Smiech won a World University Bronze medal in 2023 and has a 71.14 PB.

The field is completed by Chilean Marian Walker, 69.70 PB, Michelle Wilms of Germany, 69.69 and Ireland’s Margaret Hayden, 63.27.

The hammer competition will get underway at 6:50 PM. Get there early because you do not want to miss this one!
