It's going to be a fast Loki 400

Morton Games has witnessed some fantastic men's 400s over the years, all sponsored by that most loyal of supporters Loki Sports. Who will ever forget home track favorite Brian Gregan's epic win in 2017 and the sound of the “Santry Roar”?  Last year Argentinian Elian Larrengina set a new stadium record of 45.09, tantalisingly close to breaking that 45 second barrier. It looks like we will have another fantastic Loki 400 at this year's meet on Friday week, July 10th.

Some of Ireland's top 400 men will be there. Jack Raftery the 2025, 2024 and Indoor 2023 national champion who has a PB of 44.98 carries Irish hopes along with the 2026 national Indoor 400 champion Sean Doggett, with a 46.24 best and Andrew Egan with a 45.86 PB set in Oordegem in June 2025.

There is a very strong overseas entry led by 2025 World Indoor 400 silver medallist and 4 x 400 gold medallist Brian Faust of the USA who has a PB of 45.28.

Chidi Okezie (NGR) has a lightning fast PB of 44.97, he won gold at the 2024 African games and last year was the Nigerian National 200 champion.

Matej Krsek (CSE) is also an athlete with considerable pedigree, he is a five-time national outdoor champion and two-time indoor champion and at the 2023 world championships he picked up 4 x 400 mixed relay bronze.

Britain’s Sam Lunt, PB 45.16, won 4 x 400 gold at the European U/20 Championships in 2023. the following year he was a 5th place finisher in the World U/20 championships in the 400 hurdles.

Finally fastest man the field from the United States William Jones with a 44.65 pb.

Will we will witness the first ever sub- 45 second 400 on Irish soil? If it happens, it will happen at Morton Games on Friday, July 10.
