Morgan Lake star high jump entry

One of the finest women's high jump fields ever assembled on these shores will grace Morton Games in a week’s time. The high jump, supported once again by HyGo Water, brings together a stellar field of 10 athletes.

The big-name in the field is British international Morgan Lake who will be competing for the first time in Ireland. Lake is a 3 time Olympian, and was a finalist in Rio 2016. She won silver at the Commonwealth Games 2 years later. in 2018. At the World indoor championships she has qualified for the final on 3 occasions with a best finish of 4th place in Budapest in 2023. She has an amazing 17 time national champion and also has a Diamond League win, London 2025, to her credit. In Zürich last August she set a new British record of 2.00m.

Stadium record alert !!

The record currently stands at 1.92 set by Hanne Haugland (NOR) way back in July 1997.

Other big names to look out for include Michaela Hruba (CZE) who has a 1.95m PB, she like Morgan Lake has dominated her national championships  with 13 titles to her name, she was the European U/20 championships back in 2017 and has been a finalist at the European indoors on three occasions and European outdoors on one occasion.

Fatoumata Balley (GUI) only in the past two weeks broke her own national record jumping 1.93m. She was a bronze medallist in the 2024 African championships.

Returning to Morton Games are last year's winner Fedra Fekete (HUN) who has a 1.88 PB, Annie Stapleton, now representing Bulgaria, who has a 1.85 best and Portugal's Anabela Neto, 1.86.

A first time Morton Gamer is Laura Zialor (GBR), 1.91 PB, the British international has competed at World, European and Commonwealth games.

There are three Irish high jumpers in the field Siun Quinn, Aoife O'Sullivan and Daena Kealy.

This will be an amazing event that will get the international programme underway with a 6:30 PM start.  The strong advice is to get to Morton Stadium early on July 10th.
