Battle of 800 champions

The women's 800, once again very kindly sponsored by Irish life Dublin Marathon will be an intriguing battle between national champions. The current Irish 800 outdoor and indoor champions face off, with Alex O'Neill having come out on top at Morton Stadium in the 2025 nationals and Hannah Seagrave winning the indoors at Abbottstown in February. They have respective PB's of 2.00.18 and 1.59.30. There is a stellar Irish entry, also confirmed is one of the rising stars of Irish athletics Emma Moore who has hugely impressed this year clocking a PB at the Ostrava Golden Spike meet of 2.00.71 and Irish U/20 athlete Saoirse Fitzgerald, a prolific domestic medal winner at underage level. 

During the indoor season Kimberley Ficenec (CZE) took her 3rd national indoor title adding to the 4 outdoor titles she holds. Ficenec has a 2.00.68 PB. 

Nina Vukovic (CRO), PB 2.01.00, this indoor season won both the 800 and 1500, bringing her collection of national titles to 9, 5 indoor and 4 outdoor, and for good measure she won the Balkan indoor 800 this year adding to her 2024 win.

Another National champion is Belgium national indoor champion Laure Bilo, who has a 2.01.79 PB.

There is a trio of top British 800 talent, Lucy Armitage PB 2.00.45, bronze medallist at the UK Championships. Grace Vans Agnew, with an identical PB and Khahisa Mhlanga , 2023 European XC Relay bronze medallist and 2017 Euro U/20 800 gold, with a 1.59.35 best

The winner of the 800 will also be presented with the Claire Walsh Memorial cup in honour of Clonliffe Harriers’ first female Olympian, Munich 1972.
