Today June 10, there is only a calendar month until the World Athletics Continental Tour (bronze) Morton Games returns to Morton Stadium – Friday, July 10 is the big night. Get your tickets now!
Last year's meet was a humdinger: Stadium records in the men's 800, women's 1500, men's mile and men's 400 with 3 athletes achieving the world qualification standard and all witnessed by a bumper crowd in glorious sunshine.
The meet director and his team having set the bar at such a high level in 2025 are confident that 2026 will see the bar going higher and higher. New for July 10 is an international women's classification para 100 which will feature Ireland's double world champion Orla Comerford against a field of global medallists including Anna Grimaldi (NZL) 3 time Paralympic gold medal winner, Tokyo Paralympic double gold winner Adi Iglesias (ESP) and Rihannon Clarke (AUS), 3 time World Para medallist.
The last time an international women's hammer was featured at an international invitational meet in Morton Stadium was at the predecessor of Morton Games, the Morton Memorial Meet in 2008, 18 years later Morton Games is delighted to feature a women's hammer throw competition. Confirmed athletes include Ireland's World University and European U/23 silver medallist Nicola Tuthill, Norwegian record holder Beatrice llano, European 2023 U/23 silver medallist and 3 time British champion Charlotte Payne. Others will be announced soon.
Morton Games staples are back and guaranteed to entertain! The Albie Thomas 5000 has gathered a world-class entry including Ireland's Nick Griggs, Darragh McElhinney, Jack O'Leary, 2025 European 10,000 Cup champion Efrem Gidey, Irish record holder Brian Fay, 2023 winner Scott Beattie (GBR), John Heymans (BEL), 2024 Olympic finalist, Rocky Hansen (USA) and Jonas Raess (SUI). Can the 13 minute barrier be broken?
Ireland’s top sprint hurdler Sarah Lavin returns facing top class opposition: Adaobi Tabugbo (NGR), Milica Emini (SRB) and Laura Banko (HUN).
The traditional grand finale of the Morton mile will feature the 2024 winner, Olympic 1500 semi-finalist and reigning National 1500 champion Cathal Doyle, the National 1500 indoor champion Lughaidh Mallon, 2023 Dutch national indoor champion Noah Baltus and fastest miler in the field with a 3.49.62 PB Adam Fogg (GBR).
