Great international line up for Women’s 800

The Dublin Marathon women’s 800 will provide another exciting race on Friday night, with real prospects of another sub 2 minute win. Irish hopes will rest with Jenna Bromell, who had a breakthrough performance in May’s Belfast milers meet, clocking her PB of 2.00.53, and looks well capable of breaking through that two-minute barrier. With Alex O’Neill, who has been showing fine form since her return to competitive racing in her UK base this season, and has recently clocked a fine 2.02.48 and Emma Moore who has had a stellar year to date, also lining up Irish eyes may well be smiling.

Hoping for a change in Morton fortune is Laura Pellicoro, the Italian had a fall in last year’s 1500. The 2023 800 & 1500 World University gold medalist been running exceptionally well on the US Collegiate circuit clocking a 2.00.84 PB recently. Also entered are Kimberley Ficenec (CZE) 2.00.68 and fastest PB in the field at 1.59.30, Hannah Segrave (GBR), no stranger to Morton Games.

US athletes have enjoyed success in the 800 over the years at Morton Games and have another strong challenger this time out, Victoria Bossong who has run a PB this season of 1.59.48. Bossong took silver in the NCAA Indoor 800 in March with 2.00.93 and in June made the NCAA 800 final where she finished 9th.

The field also includes first time Morton Gamers Nina Vukovic (CRO) 2.01.03, 2023 Grace Van Agnew (GBR) 2.00.45, Belgian national indoor champion Laure Bilo, 2.04.15

With athletes from Ireland, Britain, USA, Belgium, Italy, Croatia and Czechia the Dublin Marathon women’s 800 is an out and out international race!
