Morton Games is deeply sad at the shocking news announced this morning of the passing of Ireland's 2024 European 1500 champion Ciara Mageean early this morning, November 1st.

Ciara is a two-time Olympian who made Irish athletics history by winning European 1500m in Rome. In addition to that historic gold she won European bronze in 2016 and silver in 2022.

She was always a great friend and supporter of Morton Games competing in 4 successive meets from 2015 to 2018, indeed Ciara was the winner of the international mile at the 2015 meet. (pictured above).

Our thoughts are with Ciara's family at this exceptionally sad time.
