Tonight Dublin will get the opportunity of seeing world-class athletes compete in the annual Morton Games. The action will commence at 6:45 PM with the qualifying heats for the men's 100 and will then be a night of non-stop thrills and spills concluding with the iconic Morton mile itself at 9 PM under full stadium lights.
Competing tonight are Ireland's best athletes, athletes such as Mark English who on Sunday won the 800 in the Birmingham Diamond League Meet, the European indoor bronze medallist tonight chases the world qualifying time. Ireland's second bronze medallist at those European Championships Ciara Mageean will go in the Dublin Marathon women's 800, also in that race is Ireland's European U/23 bronze medallist Nadia Power. Local favourite Brian Gregan in the 400 and John Travers who will attempt to become the first Irishman in 15 years to win the Morton mile.
Top international athletes include in the 100 Demek Kemp, Ameer Webb, Jeff Demps, Sean McLean to name but a few with the prospects of the fastest ever 100 witnessed on Irish soil. In the women's 1500 a host of international stars including Lindon Hall (AUS), Elinor Purrier (USA), Martha Freitas (POR). In the 800 Olivia Baker (USA) and Jenna Westaway (CAN). High jumpers Eleanor Patterson (AUS) a 2016 Olympic Games finalist, Priscilla Fredericks (ANT), the list goes on and on..
