It is with great pleasure that Morton Games confirms that the international women's 800 will once again be sponsored by our friends Dublin Marathon. Dublin Marathon has been sponsoring the women's 800 at Morton Games now for the past six years and in that time the women's 800 has become one of the much looked forward to races of a packed programme.
World-class two lappers have come to compete in this women's race year after year. Last year's winner was Hannah Green of the USA, previous winners have included Adele Tracey (GBR), Alex Bell (GBR), and Angie Petty (NZD). Petty in fact holds the fastest time in this international women's 800: 1.59.89.
This has been a race targeted by Ireland's Ciara Mageean as part of her championship build up in recent years and she has come tantalizingly close to not only victory but that elusive sub- two. The organisers of Morton Games are very pleased with the level and number of enquiries from athletes and agents from all over the world and are confident that once again another world-class 800 will delight the Santry crowd. Morton Games would like to thank sincerely Mr Jim Augney and his wonderful team at Dublin Marathon for their continued generosity and support.
