Demps looking to regain Morton 100 title

Jeff Demps (USA) comes to Morton Games on Wednesday looking to put behind him his DQ of 2018 and repeat his 2017 Morton 100 win. He is certainly in form having placed 2nd in the 100 at Wednesday night's Cork City Sports in a time of 10.20. The former Florida Gator footballer has a PB of 10.01 and has clocked 10.14 this season. Cork winner Demek Kemp (USA) is a Diamond League regular and the US 60m Indoor Champion. He clocked 10.19 in the swirling wind of Cork and set his 10.03 PB this season. He may well start as slight favourite along with sub 10 man Ameer Webb (USA), 9.94 PB.

Also hitting form is the 2018 Morton 100 champion Sean McLean (CAN) who was a winner in Cork in the 200 and from the unfavoured lane eight. McLean is one of several Canadians competing on Wednesday: Sam Effah, PB 10.06, Gavin Smellie PB 10.01, Bismark Boating, PB 10.14 and Benjamin Williams PB 10..23.

Other athletes to watch out for include Ramon Gittens (BAR) a three time Olympian and 2016 world indoor 60 bronze medallist, Jamaica's Everton Clarke, , PB 10.06. Irish athlete who are running well this season include Marcus Lawler, Eanna Madden, 10.55, Stephen Gaffney, who ran a 10.54 PB in Cork and Jason Smyth who is the fastest Irishman this year at 10.51..

The heats in men's 100 ,very kindly sponsored by Athletics Leinster, will get Wednesday's meet underway at 6.4 5 PM. The top three in each heat and the four fastest losers will go through to the final later in the evening. If the weather is kind one thing you can be sure of is that it is going to be fast. Don't blink!
